The Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building public understanding of biotechnology. In the past one decade, with its various outreach programmes and a broad spectrum of target audience, MABIC has positioned itself as the sole biotechnology communicator in Malaysia. MABIC organizes a variety of activities targeted at specific stakeholders in and around Malaysia to promote mutual understanding, engage the masses and inspire the next generation to embrace the potential of biotechnology. Its strong linkages and collaboration with universities and government agencies serves as MABIC’s key strength in successfully creating public understanding of biotechnology.

It is recent flagship project, the Petri Dish is Malaysia’s first science newspaper to further promote science & technology among stakeholders from all walks of life.

BioMalaysia & Bioeconomy Asia Pacific 2013 Goes to Johor

BioMalaysia and Bioeconomy Asia Pacific 2013 will be held in Johor Bahru at the Johor Persada International Convention Centre from 21-23 October 2013. One of the key highlights will be the inauguration of Bio-XCell, a 160-acre biotechnology park at Nusajaya housed in the Iskandar region of Johor, Malaysia. BioMalaysia Conference & Exhibition 11th edition, is introducing ‘Bioeconomy Asia Pacific 2013’ which sees a further growth to the event. This year’s event themed ‘Convergence of Ideas, Confluence of Opportunities’, will be the focal regional platform for discourse and collaboration for the region and to unfold wider opportunities and greater collaborations for Asia Pacific and global players in the area of bio-economy.

 
Clive James: The go-to source for biotechnology crop data

There’s only one place to find comprehensive global data on biotech crops, and it’s not the United Nations’s Food and Agriculture Organization or the World Bank or any national agency. It’s a tiny not-for-profit called the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications, or ISAAA. Applications for 2013/14 Chevening Scholarships Now Open

Application for the prestigious 2013/14 Chevening Scholarships programme is now open. Malaysians are invited to submit their applications until 20 Jan 2013. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening is a scholarship programme by the UK government which operates in over 100 countries worldwide.
