Message from the Director

Dear valued subscribers

Excitement is in the air again as we are creating another milestone this year - A Free Biotech Newspaper: The Petri Dish.

The Petri Dish will soon hit the market carrying biotech news, features, interviews, interactive sections for children, articles from columnist… and many more! With the tagline “Bridging Biotech and Society”, our aim is to bring biotech closer to everyone’s home and creating a biotech literate society.

The Petri Dish will be distributed to all universities, government agencies, biotech related ministries, research institutes, industry, schools and a number of public places. We hope you could play a role as our citizen reporters and alert us on the current affairs of biotech research, business, policies and happenings at your organization. Provide us tip-offs and we will take it from there. Your comments and suggestions to further improve the newspapers is most welcome.

In April, we are taking our innovative BioRunway to Singapore. UiTM fashion students will be showcasing their creation at Biopolis. With the theme, “Biotechnology and Fashion”, we are expecting to see DNA molecules, plasmids, restriction enzymes, Bt and various GM crops to run across fabric.

MyBio Carnival 2011 is hosted by Taylor’s University and more news on this soon…

Sincerely

Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Executive Director
