Message from the Director

Dear valued subscribers

I hope this message finds all of you in great momentum. As for me, I have just returned from Cairo, after organizing a workshop with my Egypt counterpart. I had a chance to meet delegates from various OIC countries and had great time sharing experience and exchanging notes. A brief report on this event is posted on our event calendar.

MABIC’s next event is hosted by MARDI on the 23rd March. Check out our event calendar for more information.

I also would like to take this opportunity to announce that we have extended the deadline for the logo competition due to overwhelming request from our subscribers. The new deadline for submission is on the 30th April, 2006. Click here to check it out!

I hope you enjoy this issue of BICalert and we welcome comments and suggestions from you to further improve the content of this newsletter.

For those who will be attending BIO 2006, see you in Chicago!

Yours sincerely

Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Program Director

Announcement

Seminar on “Commercialization of Agricultural Biotechnology”

23rd March, 2006
Malaysian Agricultural Research & Development Institute (MARDI)

MABIC is organizing a seminar focusing on issues related to the commercialization of agricultural biotechnology which will be hosted by MARDI. The seminar will be attended by researchers involved in agricultural biotechnology from both the public as well as private institutes and policy makers. We strongly feel that it is timely for such a seminar as agriculture has been identified by the Government as one of the main thrust in spearheading the biotechnology industry in Malaysia.

We hope this seminar will help support the transfer of commercially viable technology from research to marketplace and act as a platform or forum where issues related to commercialization could be shared, explored and discussed. We also trust this seminar will enhance the knowledge of agbiotech researchers on product development and biotechnology business strategies.
