A wild grass found in Asia and Africa may be the solution to providing an alternative to fossil fuels blamed in global warming. Miscanthus, a perennial plant, is an ideal plant for producing ethanol at a lower cost than that of corn, which is currently the most widespread source of bioethanol. The grass, being used as an ornamental plant in the US, is thought to produce yields 5-10 times greater than that of corn.
