Message from the Director

Dear valued subscribers,

The past few weeks have been exciting with so much of news on biotechnology. The National Biotechnology Policy has been made public and there is so much of anticipation among the biotech community on the implementation of the policy.

We believe with such strong commitment and involvement from the Government, the biotech industry will fair better, though, it will not be a rosy path. There is a lot of catch-up work to do, as Malaysia is a late entrée to this field. As usual, MABIC will do its part to support the Government’s efforts.

In this issue of BiCalert, we highlight to you some of the latest news on biotech locally and around the world. You can also have your say on GM food.

We hope you enjoy this issue and thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Program Director
