Message from the Director

Dear Valued Members

Exciting time ahead! Work is in progress on Biotechnology Carnival, 18-26 Sept at National Science Centre. The Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation and National Science Centre are in full force together with MABIC to create revolution in communication of biotechnology in Malaysia. For more updates, please visit our website.

MABIC is currently hosting a science communicator from Victoria AgriBiosciences Centre, based in Melbourne to organize a series of biotech workshops for teachers. Ms. Belinda Griffiths became an instant celebrity among teachers in Kuala Terengganu where the first workshop was organized by Universiti Terengganu Malaysia, Ministry of Education, MABIC, and Pusat Sains dan Kreativiti Terengganu. Two more workshops will be organized at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and Melaka Biotechnology Corporation.

MABIC will also to be part of National Science Centre’s “Celeberate Life” programme and team up with CEBAR from University of Malaya to organize workshops for students to give them hands-on experience in extracting DNA using simple household materials.

There are also a number of programmes under wraps due to it developmental stage. We will be happy to unveil these programmes once they are confirmed.

Till we meet again in the next issue.

Sincerely

Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Executive Director
