Menteri Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani, Datuk Seri Noh Omar telah melancarkan dua varieti padi baru dan Sistem Pengeluaran Padi Clearfield yang dapat mengatasi masalah padi angin, sekaligus meningkatkan hasil padi negara. Dua varieti tersebut, MR 220CL1 dan MR 220CL2 merupakan hasil kacukan varieti dari Amerika Syarikat (AS) dengan varieti tempatan iaitu MR200 dan MR219.
