Message from the Director

Dear valued subscribers

Last month MABIC successfully organized a workshop on “The Sustainable Utilisation of Biodiversity and the Related issues on Biosafety in an Islamic Perspective”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The workshop was held with the aim to bring together scientists and Islamic authorities to achieve better understanding on issues concerning religion and biotechnology. It was nice meeting some of you there. The proceeding of this workshop will be posted on our website once it is ready.

Indeed, it is great pleasure to disseminate information on biotechnology to non-biotech stakeholders. MABIC would continue with its mission to reach to various groups who are either directly or indirectly involved in biotechnology. We would appreciate your support to achieve our mission. All you have to do is introduce our site to your friends and for those who have not signed-in as subscribers, please click here.

In this issue of BiCalert, as usual you could have your say and the topic of the month is “Biofuel: Is it promising enough?”. Click here to vote.

We hope you enjoy the other regular sections.

Have a nice month ahead!

Sincerely yours
Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Program Director

Announcement

Part Time Data Collector

At MABIC, we would like to reach out to as many people as possible to ensure there is wide coverage for information on biotechnology. We are currently compiling a comprehensive database of key institutions, organizations, and individuals involved in biotechnology throughout the country. To do so, we are actively looking for a part time Data Collector who will be able to visit various institutions, universities, government agencies, and research institutes, which are directly or indirectly involved in biotechnology and collate the particulars of the experts in this area.

Ideally the candidate should have excellent communication skills and a fair understanding of biotechnology.
