From the polls conducted in July, readers have been generally optimistic in their views regarding Malaysia’s potential in biotechnology. 51% of readers explicitly vouched that Malaysia would benefit from developing biotechnology. This is supported by 36% of readers who maintained that it is possible, while 8% denied that Malaysia could benefit from biotechnology.

On the other hand, 80% of readers believe that Malaysia could produce sufficient skilled workers to supplement the field, though 47% of them admitted that we have yet to achieve this. Such views are offset by 15% who maintained that Malaysia would not generate enough for the industry.

On the knowledge in biotechnology of Malaysians, 36 readers believe that it is generally good. This is contrasted by 27 out of the 56 readers who opposes this.

In general, out of 65 who were polled, 25% believed that Malaysia has the potential to become a major biotech player in the region. 54% however, believed that this could not be done in the near future. Whereas 15% of readers deny the possibility of Malaysia become a hub for biotechnology altogether.
