This month, readers were polled on their views on whether a synergy between biotechnology and biodiversity was possible. In general, readers were optimistic, with 82% believing that co-existence is possible between the two, contrasted by the 9% who believed otherwise. This is possible due to readers understanding that biotechnology does not pose threats to biodiversity (68%), however other readers were generally cautious, with 12% expressing the possibility and 16% believing biotechnology may pose a threat. In fact, readers generally believe that biotechnology may play a significant role in conservation (79%), offset by 12% who believed otherwise.

With regards to the status of conservation in the country, respondents typically understand that there is still a lack in studies done on biodiversity (74%), with 18% believing otherwise. In this respect, 72% of those polled believe that not enough measures have been taken to protect our biodiversity, with a small amount of those polled believing enough is being done already (14%).
