A study by US researchers show that extended use of aspirin at high doses may cut risk of colon cancer by 53%. However, they warned, the dosage may in turn cause serious gastrointestinal bleeding as a side effect. With colon cancer on the rise, 145,000 new cases reported this year alone, researchers reserve judgment to whether aspirin may be used as an alternative to lessen colon cancer risks.

The WHO warned that an outbreak of the disease in Indonesia may worsen and spread to neighboring countries of SEA. Without proper control and regulation, the WHO warned that the disease may spread from country to country and even be implanted if protection rates are low. However, the UN agency expressed confidence in Indonesia being able to handle the outbreak with vaccination and other prevention procedures.
