Message from the Director

Dear Valued Members

Greetings from MABIC! The much awaited MyBio Carnival 2010 is just around the corner. From 25 Sept – 2 Oct, the National Science Centre will be bustling with loads of activities. We are pleased to announce that the carnival will be launched by the Deputy Secretary General (Science), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) on the 27th Sept, 10am.

Besides activities for schools, a number of activities for other stakeholders will be organized:

Science Communication Seminar for scientists, biotechnology undergraduates and post graduates, and industry players. 28th Sept, 9am – 12 noon. Prominent speakers from the Philippines will share their experience with you.

Career talk on career prospects for biotechnology graduates. Life science undergraduates, graduates and aspiring biotechnology students will find this talk inspiring. 2 Oct, 11am – 12 noon. A former prominent industry player from the biomedical sector will present this talk.

Public Lecture on Insect Resistant Biotech Rice will be presented by Dr. Behzad Ghareyazie from Iran in Taylor’s University College. 29 Sept, 2pm.

Please call us to register for these talks and seminar.

We have received more than 100 entries from schools for the poster drawing competition and it was a real challenge to judge them. The students have very creatively depicted their perception of biotechnology. These posters will be exhibited during the carnival.

There are so many “firsts” in this carnival which should not be missed:

Not to be missed is also an exhibition on mushrooms by Mushroom Research Centre, University of Malaya.

See you all there!

Sincerely

Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Executive Director
