Readers this month have been surveyed with regards to their willingness to expose their children to various aspects of biotechnology via workshops during the school holidays. Readers have overwhelmingly presented their support behind this suggestion, with 70% providing a positive answer while the other 30% voiced the possibility.

This willingness is further mirrored when queried on whether they would be willing to pay for the workshop, as 23 agreed while 34 allowed the possibility.

This is probably due to the belief that such workshops may help promote the field, where 58% of voters supporting the idea and a further 42% replied with a “maybe”.

However, voters were divided between the appropriate age to expose their children to biotechnology as 27 of the 53 who voted believed that the exposure should begin during primary school, while a further 21 who voted, believe that lower secondary would be a more appropriate time. This is contrasted by the 5 who believed that their children should only be exposed to the complexities of biotechnology during their upper secondary years.
