Title: MANAGER, REGULATORY AFFAIRS

Job purpose:
To drive the plant science industry’s representation and advocacy activities on key regulatory policy issues affecting the industry by facilitating the development of global policies and positions, in collaboration with allied associations, and organise the global industry representation in key international fora.
To support CropLife Asia’s Regulatory Steering Committee to achieve its strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities Main Tasks
- Manage the issues and activities in relation to regulatory affairs, Crop Protection Chemicals
|
Manage relevant committees & project teams to reach agreement on global strategic directions and elaborate the action plans each year. Ensure implementation of committee’s & project team’s action plan.
Guide the development and monitor the implementation of action plans for issues being addressed by committees & project teams.
Develop globally harmonised industry positions, statements and activities to convey the industry’s position and messages, based on sound preparatory work including research and analysis. Also develop a related communications plan and co-ordinate/monitor its implementation.
In all these, improve the measurability of performance output of industry’s activities by collecting and summarising impact data.
Develop strategies in relation to the regulatory environment legislating the plant science industry and recommend industry positions. |
- Monitor issues related to the scientific and regulatory activities of the federation
|
Monitor developments and identify upcoming issues of importance via personal contacts, press, other publications and web and propose/package information for internal and external websites.
Inform CropLife Asia’s office bearers and secretariat regularly on developments of importance to the industry. |
- Liaise with international organizations, national associations and represent the industry on those matters
|
Correspond and meet with representatives of international, governmental and non-governmental international, regional and country organisations.
The person shall liaise within the respective country's national associations to support the local regulatory matters.
Represent industry at formal meetings of international governmental and non-governmental organisations, engaging the CropLife Asia advocacy network.
Establish a network of “allies”.
Develop an advocacy strategy and implementation plan to deliver the CropLife Asia messages, by calling on industry experts and managing the technical/regulatory influencing network. |
- Support the Regulatory Steering Committee, Crop Protection Chemicals
|
Facilitate the work of the CropLife Asia Regulatory Steering Committee by establishing, maintaining and coordinating an appropriate infrastructure. This includes:
- Act as secretary: prepare meetings and meeting documents, consolidate comments, write minutes
- Propose the establishment of and participate as appropriate in Project Teams and other sub-teams and co-ordinate their activities and ensure the exchange of information
- Communicate/liaise with the network of experts and company and regional contacts
- Liaise/co-operate with the International Regulatory Affairs executives of the regional associations.

Develop and promote communication mind-set in all activities, e.g. converting complex technical issues into layman’s language and visuals.
Prepare speeches/presentations and provide material for briefings, e.g. media briefings, preparing briefs on technical issues for the Executive Director, Office Bearers and the Crop Protection Strategy Council
Contribute data, stories, illustrations, graphs for communication tools and knowledge base.
Identify and prepare and draft items for Heads-up/press releases. |
- Budget and planning accountability
|
Develop annual action plans and establish budget needs.
Measure/evaluate value for money, including supervision of project team work/sub-teams.
Responsible for budget management, reporting/tracking of budget expenses. |
|
Responsible for filing important correspondence relative to International Regulatory Affairs.
Comply with CropLife Secretariat House Rules and procedures. |
