Message from the Director

Dear Valued Subscribers

We have come to the end of 2009. What a hectic year. Full of events, speaking engagements, meetings and forums, travels, and of course networking sessions as well. All this certainly made the year more colourful and meaningful. MABIC organized/supported in total 19 events this year, spoke at 11 events, and appeared in the newspaper five times and on television three times. It is tough to call off the year as appointments are still flowing in.

The year 2010 does not look any less colourful. MABIC will turn 10 next year. And that certainly calls for a celebration. We would like to shift our priority from events to publication and make our publication one of the main channels for creating awareness on biotechnology. As the country is moving towards the second phase of the National Biotechnology Policy, the commercialization phase, MABIC will ensure public awareness and education will not take a backseat.

It is MABIC’s wish that biotech research, development, innovation, commercialization and industry will do better in 2010. Fundamental research should excel to greater heights and depths for us to have a solid foundation.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!

Sincerely

Mahaletchumy Arujanan
Program Director
